Schilke 13A4A

Description

The Schilke 13A4A is a Standard Series trumpet mouthpiece with a cup diameter of 16.76mm, originally developed for Mike Vax, lead trumpet with the Stan Kenton Orchestra. The shallow A cup, semi-flat #4 rim and tight 'a' backbore make this a precise option for lead playing in the upper register. The tight backbore adds the resistance many experienced lead players rely on for focus and tonal control above the staff. Compared to the 13A4, the tighter 'a' backbore delivers a more compact, centred response. A practical choice for big band, show and commercial work where consistent upper register playing is the primary demand.
