Description
The Schilke 14A4a is a trumpet mouthpiece from the Standard Series, originally developed as an Artist Model for Forrest Buchtel, lead trumpeter with the Woody Herman Band. The cup diameter of 17.09 mm, the shallow "A" cup, the semi-flat #4 rim and the tight "a" backbore together form a configuration that supports the upper register without sacrificing tone production in the middle range. The tight backbore provides more resistance and control, which proves its value particularly in high-lead and big band situations. Compared to the Bach 3C, the 14A4a has a larger cup diameter but a considerably shallower cup. Silver-plated brass.
