Alexander felt another line of reeds was needed to address the specific needs of classical woodwind players or jazz players who wanted a bit more resistance and darkness. They conceptualized a reed with a wide palette of expression, and classically grounded performance characteristics. Reeds that produce a warm, dynamically balanced, and a sonorously beautiful tone. Classique is now being used by classical and concert performers, and others looking for a darker tone.
