Adams Musical Centres - Together in Music

Maintenance products

The lifespan and sound quality of your instrument depend on how well you maintain it. Sweat can corrode lacquer or silver, and corks and pads wear out quickly without proper care. Good maintenance is key to preserving sound and preventing damage.

As specialists in care products, we offer a full range of cleaning kits, oils, greases, and protectants to help you avoid costly repairs and overhauls. Our collection includes high-quality products for every instrument – from premium valve oil and slide grease to cork grease and effective cymbal cleaner.

Maintenance products for trumpets, cornets, horns and flugelhorns

For a quick response, smoothly moving valves are incredibly important. We offer a selection of top-quality valve oils from renowned brands such as La Tromba and JM Meinlschmidt.

In addition to the valves, the water keys should also be lubricated regularly to ensure you can always drain water from your instrument. Keep the exterior of your instrument in top condition with our polishing cloths.

Regular internal cleaning with the right cleaning brushes ensures that the instrument stays clean on the inside as well.

Maintenance products for saxophones

Cork grease is essential for the cork around the neck. A small amount ensures that the parts fit together smoothly and prevents wear.

After each playing session, immediately remove condensation and saliva with a good swab or Pad-Saver. Moisture is the biggest enemy of the pads, causing them to wear out prematurely. Drying your instrument thoroughly after each use ensures that the pads last much longer.

Advanced players can lubricate the mechanism with key oil on the pivot points of the axles to maintain silent operation.

After each playing session, use a soft polishing cloth to remove hand perspiration and fingerprints from the outside of the body. Always use a cloth that you are sure won’t leave fibers behind.

Keep the inside dry with swabs to remove moisture buildup. Moisture accelerates the wear of the pads.

Lubricate the pivot points of the keys with a drop of key oil to keep the mechanism running smoothly and silently.

Clarinet maintenance products

The clarinet is sensitive to both moisture and drying out, which can lead to cracks. Proper and timely maintenance is extremely important for wooden instruments. Always use a swab after playing to carefully dry the clarinet.

Apply cork grease to the tenons of your clarinet as soon as the parts start to fit tightly. This prevents wear and ensures an airtight seal. Always use a small amount for optimal results.

The wooden parts of the instrument should be oiled once a year. To further protect the instrument from cracking, it is strongly recommended to never expose it to rapid changes in temperature and humidity.

Maintenance products for oboe and bassoon

Just like with other reed instruments, cork grease is essential for the tenon joints. It ensures that the parts of the instrument can be assembled smoothly and with a proper fit.

The many keys and axles of the oboe or bassoon require precise care. Lubricate the friction points of the key mechanism only with specific key oil to prevent wear.
