The Courtois Creation 551 New York is a professional bass trombone with an independent Quart Valve and Quinte Valve using René Hagmann's free-flow valve system, developed with bass trombonists from the Metropolitan Opera in New York. The screw-ring gold brass bell measures 9.5 inches and is hand-hammered from one piece, letting the bell be removed for transport in a compact flat case. The dual bore, from .562" to .578", combines smooth articulation with projection in the low register. The outer slide is brass with nickel silver sleeves, the inner slide is hard-chrome-plated nickel silver, and an ergonomic hand rest supports a relaxed playing position. This new bass trombone comes with a lacquered finish, including mouthpiece and case, and suits symphonic players looking for a compact, versatile Hagmann valve system.
