Marigaux 940

Description

The Marigaux 940 is the fully automatic English horn from the French maker Marigaux, which has been building oboes in Paris since 1935. The instrument features a grenadilla wood body that has been seasoned for at least four years, with silver-plated nickel silver keywork, fully automatic octave keys, a third octave key and an F lever. Like the 930, the 940 incorporates a newly developed bore and a newly designed bocal, both entirely handcrafted. This provides a direct, flexible response in the lower register and an upper register rich in harmonics. The fully automatic octave mechanism handles all octave key changes automatically, providing additional playing comfort. Ergonomic refinements further support a smooth transition from oboe to English horn.
