What repair and maintenance services does Adams Music Centre offer for brass instruments?+
At Adams Music Centre, we offer various repair and maintenance services for your brass instrument:
- Regular maintenance – Ideal for well-maintained or newer instruments. We perform an ultrasonic internal cleaning, lubricate valves and slides, and check springs, guides, and corks.
- Overhaul – Perfect for older or heavily used instruments. This includes a thorough cleaning, slide polishing, replacement of worn parts, and correction of mechanical play.
- Dent removal – Small, accessible dents are repaired. This is done based on a prior quotation.
- Damage repair – We provide a damage assessment and create a report. Then we restore the instrument to its original – or even better – condition. This is always based on an in-person evaluation, not photos.

- Adjustment service – Is a key not functioning smoothly? It may just need a minor adjustment to the mechanism.
- COA (Clean, Oil, Adjust) – Your instrument is completely disassembled, cleaned, reassembled, and oiled. We also adjust the mechanism and replace worn parts such as pads, corks, and felts if needed.

How often should I have my instrument checked?+
Woodwind instruments
We recommend having your woodwind instrument checked by a professional repair technician at least once a year. This helps detect issues early and keeps your instrument in top condition.
Brass instruments
For brass instruments, we advise a check-up at least once every two years. Regular inspections help identify wear and tear early and ensure your instrument continues to perform well.
Can I get a replacement instrument during maintenance or repair?+
Yes, for only €20 per month, with a minimum of €20 per use, you can use a loan instrument during the repair period of your own instrument. The fee you pay is used to keep the loan instruments in top condition after each use. If you need one, please inquire about the available instruments when registering your repair and ask for the terms and conditions.

What is a service check?+
A service check is a comprehensive inspection of your instrument that we carry out after the first year of use. We examine the entire instrument and make small adjustments where needed. You’ll also receive advice on expected maintenance for the coming years and tips on how to keep your instrument in good condition.
Did you purchase your instrument from us less than a year ago? Then this service check is completely free of charge.
I’ve had my instrument for over a year. Am I still entitled to a service check?+
After the first year, the free service check no longer applies, and a maintenance appointment will need to be scheduled. Regular check-ups and maintenance remain important to keep your instrument in top condition.
Feel free to contact us – we’re happy to help you find the best maintenance option for your instrument.
My insurance is asking for a damage report. How do I arrange this?+
No problem! We’re happy to help you with a damage report. Send us an email or call to make an appointment. You’ll need to bring your instrument to the store so we can properly inspect it and prepare the report.
My instrument is damaged. What should I do?+
Don’t worry – we’re here to help!
Please send us an email with:
- Photos of the damage and the entire instrument
- The brand, model, and serial number
- The purchase invoice (if available)
With this information, we can assess the situation and work with you to find the best solution. Feel free to contact us – we’re happy to assist you!
Can you give me more information about my serial number?+
If we’ve handled your instrument before, we can often provide some additional information. Of course, we have the most details available for Adams instruments.
For other brands, it can be more difficult. Everything we know is already listed on our serial number pages. If you’d like more specific details, it’s best to contact the instrument’s manufacturer directly.
Can you determine the value of my instrument?+
Yes, we can! However, this is only done in-store. We need to physically inspect the instrument to make an accurate assessment.
The silver on my instrument is discoloring. What causes this?+
It’s not unusual for silver-plated instruments to discolor. This happens due to natural reactions with certain substances the silver comes into contact with, such as:
- Air – Silver can react with sulfur particles in the air.
- Skin contact – Oils and acids from your skin may cause discoloration.
- Sulfur-containing materials – Contact with rubber, latex, perfume, or certain cleaning agents can also affect the silver.
This type of discoloration is usually superficial and can be easily treated with silver polish.
