Serial numbers
A wind instrument’s serial number is stamped into the metal or wood in a specific location for each instrument type. Using this number and the brand’s serial number list, you can determine the year of manufacture, usually to within a few years. The year of manufacture tells you about an instrument’s history, but does not determine its value.
Look up the serial number of your instrument in the list below to find out the age of your instrument.
