DWF 2012 - Rene Creemers
For many drummers, Rene is the one and only true Drummer’s Drummer of the Netherlands. His technique and posture are sublime, and his playing is a delight to the ears. The way Rene plays is astonishing, pulling you into his incredible grooves. Once Rene starts playing, you’ll be captivated until the very end.
René Creemers (Nijmegen, January 14, 1959) is a Dutch jazz drummer.
From 1977 to 1982, Creemers studied at the conservatory. During this time, he joined the band Blowbeat, with whom he toured Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. In 1989, their first album "Blowbeat" was released, which was very successful in Germany. Between 1993 and 1996, he played with singer Margriet Eshuys, with whom he toured and recorded (the albums "The Wee Small Hours" and "Shadow Dancing"). In 1994, he recorded the video "A Matter of Pride", featuring two songs and an extended drum solo. In 1997, he recorded the album "PARaDOX" with bassist Pieter Douma, and in 1998, he played on the album "Break the Seal" by Marcel van de Beeten, alongside Pieter Douma and Bert van den Brink. In 1999, he joined Martin Verdonk's Tribal Fusion, and in 2000, he formed the duo The Drumbassadors with Wim de Vries. As a sideman, he contributed to the album "Different Colors" by Denise Jannah.
Creemers is a teacher at the conservatory in Arnhem, the Tilburg Rock Academy, and the Drummers Institute in Düsseldorf. Together with Andy Gillmann, he co-authored the instructional book 'Drummers Inspiration'.
