Extended techniques & improvisation
Following his lunch concert, Victor Somma will give an innovative workshop focusing on real-time composing/improvisation and extended techniques.
Using Somma's work 'Primals', the workshop participants will actively work on techniques such as wind tones and slap tonguing. Very accessible for players of all levels!
"I was lucky to encounter the inspiration of masters such as Curt Schroeter, Keith Underwood, Anders Ljungar-Chapelon and Philippe Benoit and to play in different orchestras under the baton of Kurt Masur, Roberto Duarte and Noël Devos.
However, my path took me away from the orchestras; my investigation as a flutist merges with that of a composer.
Music provides an environment in which everyone serves the same purpose of doing something greater than the individuals. This made me see my most important role as an artist: to help create a space where this true communication can happen, for the growth of those who participate and for my growth as a human being, artist and educator."
