REED WORKSHOP - Adams Lummen
In practice, it turns out that in a box of 10 reeds, usually only 5 are playable. This is, of course, a waste. The reed workshop is designed to introduce clarinet and saxophone students, teachers, and advanced musicians to the characteristics of reeds and how to adjust and cut them. This way, you can get more value out of a box, avoid frustration, and save a lot of (association) money.
The duration of this popular course is approximately 3 hours. In the first part, the focus will mainly be on theory: How do I recognize a good reed? What should I pay attention to when scraping, cutting, filing, etc.? After that, there will be a coffee break. In the second part, we will work on the reeds in practice and then test them. So, please bring your instrument along.
This course, where you learn how to adjust reeds to make them easier to play, is given by Marcel Geraeds. Marcel makes his own reeds, is a graduate clarinetist, and has been a freelance clarinetist with various Dutch symphony orchestras since 1997.
