Lunchbreak Concert Friday
26 March 2016
Brazilian Encounters Floor Polder - Dwarsfluit Elizabeth Fadel - Piano
Floor Polder, flutist
Her musical style is exploratory, and her deep interest in Brazilian culture is remarkable. During her studies at the Codarts Conservatory, sparks flew when this Dutch flutist came into contact with Brazilian music. The result was four trips to Brazil. There she not only studied but also performed with well-known flutists such as Carlos Malta, Antonio Rocha, João do Pife and with her own band Trio Sodade.
For this lunch concert she will be accompanied by pianist Elizabeth Fadel. Elizabeth Fadel, born in the southern Brazilian city of Curitiba, studied harpsichord in 2010 at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague with Jacques Ogg, who discovered her in Brazil.
Elizabeth and Floor, both active at the school for Brazilian music in the Netherlands, breathe new life into the instrumental Brazilian music of Hermeto Pascoal, Egberto Gismonti and Sivuca, but also perform their own works. It is music that, despite its Brazilian roots, can easily be placed in the genres of jazz or chamber music.
The risk this duo takes through interaction and spontaneity is admirable. And the joy they radiate brings this music to life! See, listen and be convinced yourself!
