Hannes Grossmann at Drumworld Festival
30 July 2013
Adams Drumworld adds Hannes Grossmann to the line-up of the Drumworld Festival on Sunday, September 8, in Ittervoort.
Grossmann is the ultimate metal drummer. He plays incredibly fast and a lot. With ease, he weaves one odd time signature into another. His blast beats are lightning fast, his fills aggressive, and he has the precision of a computer. How many hours has this man spent in the practice room?
With his German-Dutch band Obscura, Hannes Grossmann performs 150 shows per year. He also plays in the American band Blotted Science. His 2-DVD set Progressive Concepts for the Modern Metal Drummer was recently released by Hudson Music. His instructional book Extreme Metal Drumming will be released soon by Hal Leonard.
From reviews in Slagwerkkrant: "His blasts in openers Septuagint and Vortex Omnivium are faster than ever, the dragging bass drum in Ocean Gateways reminds of Peter Sandoval, and Velocity is driven by stuttering rhythms. Every element sounds remarkably deliberate and precise, with a fantastic drum sound." And: "In Anticosmic Overload he starts just as fiercely as he once did in Stabwound. We hear the same intensity and speed, but much more inventiveness and freedom. In the other nine songs, he mixes fusion licks and Steve Smith-like ride patterns with extreme metal drumming (blast beats, double bass). Incarnated is a tribute to Death, especially to their most inventive drummers: Sean Reinert and Gene Hoglan."
