Adams at North Sea Jazz 2009
17 July 2009
Once again, Adams was present with a booth at the North Sea Jazz Festival, the world’s largest indoor jazz festival. This year we invited Amik Guerra to support us at our stand, a decision that turned out to be a great success!
Luckily, Amik had time in his schedule that week to join us in Rotterdam. The Cuban jazz musician knows all the ins and outs of the jazz scene, which we gratefully made use of. The world’s greatest jazz musicians quickly found their way to the Adams booth. Terell Stafford brought the entire flugelhorn section of the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra to try out the new flugelhorns. Terell had already been convinced of the quality and playability of the new Adams flugelhorn last year. In the end, the entire section performed on Adams flugelhorns during their live concert. After the show, everyone returned to the booth with big smiles, and we could hang a "sold" tag on every instrument. Grammy Award winner Randal "Randy" Brecker also surprised us with a visit and was amazed by the outstanding quality of the new Adams trumpet. He even posed for a photo with the trumpet. We definitely piqued his interest and will stay in touch with him. Other names who visited include Mayquel Gonzalez, Randell Heye (Kyteman), Nicolas Geardel (David Sanborn and Horns), John Walsh, Hector Colon (Spanish Harlem Orchestra), and many more.
We can look back on a very successful North Sea Jazz Festival, once again breaking attendance records. We also want to thank Amik Guerra for his incredible support. We’re already looking forward to next year!
A glimpse into the future…
Don’t think that Adams custom instruments are just for jazz musicians. Many classical artists also perform on Adams custom instruments, names like Roger Diederen, Simon Van Hoecke, Willy Huppertz, Frank Aendekerk, Ruud van de Laar, Maurice Daemen, and Guus Dohmen. Hopefully, your name will be on that list one day too.
