A true Gent native in heart, soul and accent, Stéphane Misseghers rose to fame as the drummer of Soulwax. After saying goodbye to the Dewaele brothers in 2000, he cleared the deck with bands like Vive la Fête, Waldorf and Massis. His ultimate career move came in 2004 when he joined dEUS. From Antwerp to Moscow, New York to Zappa Hall in Tel Aviv: the charming drummer now calls these places familiar ground.
“A good drummer must play tight and consistently. No overplaying. You have to keep it simple. A good drummer knows their limits and understands their role: to be the backbone of the band. Fusion is a no-go for me. You have to stand for the style you play, not create a messy blend. A rock drummer playing jazz? That’s like an elephant in a china shop.”
