Herveille, Raymond (NL)

ADAMS DRUMMERS FESTIVAL - April 17, 2000
Raymond comes from a highly musical family in which almost everyone plays an instrument. His father Wiel had already performed on many stages as a drummer, showcasing his yodeling and singing talents. It’s safe to say that Raymond inherited his passion for drumming from an early age. As a child, he began experimenting with drum sounds, playing along with his favorite pop bands, and developing a great ear. Initially self-taught by ear, he built strong technique and orchestration skills.
It was only later that Raymond began to develop intensively in multiple areas. He quickly learned solfège and took lessons from, among others, Fred van Vloten, René Cremers, and of course, Joe Porcaro, a world-renowned jazz drummer (more on that later). At 18, Raymond was already fully active in the Top-40 scene with the Belgian band Con Amor. There, he learned all about harmonies and vocals, gaining invaluable knowledge from seasoned musicians. This explains his deep passion for vocal harmonies. He laid the foundation there for high-level vocal and choral work, now used by many bands and productions. Raymond delivers outstanding vocal arrangements in his own studio, where he guides bands who lack the expertise or resources to handle it themselves.
After Con Amor, Raymond went on to play with The Game, Mannheim, Zinatra, René Shuman, Manilla, Anderkovver, Extrema, and many others. He also contributed vocals and studio work to artists such as Zinatra, René Shuman, Long Tall Ernie & the Shakers, Helmut Lotti, and Lisa Del Bo (B). In short, an impressive résumé.
Among insiders, the connection between Raymond, his wife, and the Porcaro family (TOTO) has long been known. Thanks to years of friendship and collaboration, Raymond had the opportunity to train at the Musicians Institute (MI) in Hollywood and the Los Angeles Music Academy (LAMA) in Pasadena. These internationally renowned institutions are leaders in musical development. Joe Porcaro, in particular, was one of the pioneers in drum technique and equipment — think of the world-famous “Powertips” and the collaboration with Adams Muziekcentrale in Thorn. Raymond also has a sponsorship deal and plays almost every year at the Drummers Meeting in Diest (Belgium). He received private lessons and elite training from Joe Porcaro at two of the world’s top music schools.
Raymond has rightfully earned his stripes through his distinctive style, control, and expertise in both drumming and vocals. A true all-round musician, he continues to work passionately on his career, especially in his own studio where he produces and mixes projects to their peak. He also regularly performs live with his band Anderkower, a group packed with POWER, consisting of four POWERful people with a shared musical vision — a flame no storm can extinguish.
