The fact that you can play faster than your sound allows doesn’t mean you always should. Wim De Vries is capable of executing the fastest licks and rolls, yet he prefers to be recognized for his musical ideas rather than the number of notes he plays. He can be powerful and explosive, but he also enjoys creating the subtlest textures using brushes, sticks, or just his fingertips.

He’s an extroverted drummer with amazing control and an impressive range of twirling techniques, as he fully values the visual aspect of music as well. He’s also an ambitious drummer who knows what he wants and creates drumming art that inspires his fellow musicians—whether he’s playing in a jazz quartet or in Broadway-style shows like Chicago or Saturday Night Fever.

Wim studied at Berklee College of Music and the Arnhem Conservatory, and toured worldwide with various groups.
