Ronald Bruner Jr. – A Drum Virtuoso from the Start
Ronald Bruner Jr. started playing drums at age 2, inspired by his father, Ronald Bruner Sr.—a world-class drummer who performed with Diana Ross, The Temptations, and Gladys Knight. At 15, Ronald Jr. began his professional journey at the Thelonious Monk Institute, leading to performances with greats like Wayne Shorter, Dianne Reeves, and Ron Carter.
He later joined Kenny Garrett’s band as a regular member. Ronald’s style grew increasingly diverse, even venturing into punk rock with Suicidal Tendencies. By age 23, his credits already included Lee Ritenour, Roy Hargrove, Tribal Tech, Larry Carlton, Marcus Miller, Kirk Whalum, Robben Ford, Patrice Rushen, Clark Terry, Johnny Hodges, and Gerald Albright.
Wherever his journey leads, Ronald brings a dynamic range of drumming styles and a contagious energy that’s impossible to ignore.
