DWF 2017 - Wim de Vries

With the booking of the Wim de Vries Trio, the Drumworld Festival 2017 lineup is complete! Wim de Vries is one half of the renowned drum duo Drumbassadors, where he teams up with René Creemers to create the most unique percussion music. But Wim de Vries is also a highly sought-after jazz drummer in various ensembles. He also leads his own group, the Wim de Vries Trio, which he’ll bring to the Drumworld Festival on Sunday, September 10.

"The fact that you can play faster than sound doesn’t mean you always should,"—that’s how Wim de Vries opens his own website, perfectly capturing the essence of this incredible drummer. He is lightning-fast and ambitious, but also knows how to hold back in a jazz trio, how to accompany beautifully, and how to play brushes excellently. He demonstrates all of this clearly in his own Wim de Vries Trio.

In the Wim de Vries Trio, he plays with Marcus Schinkel on keys and Frits Roppel on bass. He has been playing with Schinkel since their studies at the Arnhem Conservatory, in the Marcus Schinkel Trio. He also gained fame with the Arnhem Jazz Trio, the Hans Kwakkernaat Quartet, and the Dualcity Big Band. Wim de Vries already has a rich career to his name. With the Drumbassadors, he has traveled all over the world. He has also been a drummer in numerous musical productions.
