Simon has previously performed in Ittervoort and Diest, and this year he will return to give masterclasses and a drum clinic at the Festival.

Last year Adams Drumworld organized a very successful series of masterclasses with Dave Weckl around the Drumworld Festival. This year it is Simon Phillips who comes to Ittervoort for no less than four days of masterclasses. Registration is now open!
He will teach for four days with four groups of up to 15 participants each. From today you can register for the masterclasses.

Simon Phillips is simply one of the best and most inspiring drummers in the world, with experience playing with some of the greatest on earth: The Who, Toto and many others. He has proven this numerous times in the Netherlands and Belgium with sold-out clinics and amazing performances during the Big Bang festival. In recent years he has been regularly seen with the fantastic Hiromi Trio and his own band Protocol.

These will be three unique masterclasses with Simon Phillips! You can register for them starting today!

Best Drummer
Simon Phillips is without a doubt one of the most respected and best drummers in the world. Known to the general public as the drummer for The Who, Jeff Beck and Toto, he has also grown into a highly sought-after and widely admired session drummer, who has released numerous impressive albums under his own name. The readers of Slagwerkkrant have voted him the world’s best drummer seven times in the annual Slagwerkkrant Poll.

Protocol
In 1992 Phillips (born 1957) decided to move from his hometown of London to America. ‘By coincidence’ he was asked at the same time to join Toto for their first world tour without Jeff Porcaro. Before his time with Toto he was the drummer for acts such as The Who, Jeff Beck, Duncan Browne, Gary Moore and Mike Oldfield. In 1989 Phillips released his first album under his own name: Protocol. This album has since become a classic in the fusion genre.

With Japanese pianist Hiromi – at North Sea Jazz in 2012 and 2016 – he blew everyone out of their seats with that formation.

In 2014, 25 years later, Phillips released Protocol II, followed by Protocol III in 2016. He regularly tours with the eponymous band.
