DWF 2016 - Myron Matitawaer
He was the big surprise in the Drumtalent 2015 finals, held last September during the Drumworld Festival in Ittervoort. One of the prizes he received was his own clinic performance at the next Drumworld Festival, on Sunday 11 September 2016 in Limburg’s Ittervoort. On this festival day, no fewer than six top drummers will perform clinics and concerts on the Slagwerkkrant Stage in the beautiful Adams Drumworld venue. In the coming months we’ll announce the full program. In April, we revealed that the headliner for this edition will be Dave Weckl. More recently we announced the second name: top Czech drummer Milos Meier. And now Myron Matitawaer joins the lineup.
In February, Myron Matitawaer gave his very first clinic at Musicfair in Utrecht. The thirteen-year-old winner of Drumtalent 2015 may have been a little nervous, but that wasn’t noticeable in his playing. With great bravado and obvious joy, he powered through fusion-influenced gospel and R&B tracks, accompanied by his father Stef on keys and the incredibly smooth-playing bassist Daniel van der Molen. Later in his clinic, he sent all the adults into the audience and let loose on a few groovy backing tracks. Remarkable how he hit every accent, with calm timing and creative use of all the sounds in his powerful Adams setup.
