DWF 2016 - Hans Eijkenaar

The number one drummer in the Netherlands, Hans Eijkenaar, will appear at the Drumworld Festival in Ittervoort on Sunday, September 11. In this clinic, he will showcase his playing and explain all the background details of his experiences on The Voice of Holland. On this festival day, no fewer than six top drummers will give clinics and concerts on the Slagwerkkrant Stage in the beautiful hall of Adams Drumworld. In the coming weeks, we’ll announce the full lineup. Back in April, we revealed that this edition’s headliner will be Dave Weckl. Recently, we also announced the following names: Czech top drummer Milos Meier, gospel chops drummer Dre Energy, and Myron Matitawaer. Now, Hans Eijkenaar joins the lineup.

Shortly after his clinic at the Drumworld Festival, Hans Eijkenaar will return weekly as the drummer in the live band on The Voice of Holland. That means intense work for Eijkenaar: recording hundreds of songs for backing tracks and iTunes, and supporting the contestants live during rehearsals and broadcasts. A mega job tailor-made for "De Eijk".

In his clinic at the Drumworld Festival, he’ll provide a behind-the-scenes look at The Voice of Holland. Studio work for a new season begins this June, with broadcasts starting at the end of September and continuing through December. First, a few studio weeks at Bullet Sound Studios in Nederhorst den Berg. In three blocks, the band records 35 songs per day—220 in total. These recordings are used by selected artists to rehearse, but during the actual shows, they’re performed live again. Eijkenaar will explain this process during the clinic and demonstrate with live examples.
