Ronald Bruner Jr., one of the most virtuosic drummers in the world, is coming to Ittervoort this Sunday, September 8.
Ronald Bruner Jr. is hot. He goes wild at every performance and grabs everyone's attention with his intense playing. He is versatile and says that’s one of the key requirements for any drummer who wants to stay in work. So he just as easily combines gigs with Stanley Clarke and Marcus Miller with heavy punk shows with Suicidal Tendencies. He plays jazz and fusion with Kenny Garrett but is also an excellent clinician. Truly a jack-of-all-trades and a pleasure to watch.
His father was also a drummer, playing with Diana Ross and The Temptations. So he was already behind the kit at the age of 2. He turned professional young: "I quickly realized that my age gave me a big advantage over other drummers. I got most of those gigs just by picking up the phone and talking big. I literally called Marcus Miller and told him I wanted to play with him, and that I was at least as good as the drummer he had at that moment. I was just eighteen... If you're bold enough to say something like that, people are often curious enough to give you a shot."
