Afternoon concert
Enjoy the Röhren Trio (Ned McGowan, Tilmann Dehnhard, Anders Hagberg) and two new works by Ned and Tilmann, performed with flute ensemble Résonances XXI.
Röhren is a trio of visionary flautist-composers: Anders Hagberg, Ned McGowan and Tilmann Dehnhard. United by a fascination with the sonic extremes of the flute family, the trio pushes the boundaries of the instrument through composition, improvisation and sonic experimentation. The result is music that is thunderous, playful, beautiful and exploratory, taking the flute to new dimensions.
RESONANCES XXI is a collective of flautists led by conductor Olivier Guion. Driven by a desire to give audiences of all backgrounds the opportunity to discover an unusual ensemble and an original repertoire, and passionate about contemporary creation, they collaborate with numerous composers, soloists, dancers, actors and visual artists from a wide range of artistic backgrounds.
With its flexible instrumentation, RESONANCES XXI offers an eclectic programme: new or rediscovered works, experimental projects, spatial installations, commissions, educational initiatives and more.
The entire family of transverse flutes, from the piccolo to the double contrabass, is showcased in its various projects: Dutch Resonances, The Day After, Vedrarias Music Prize, Our Patio, The Dance of the Sirli, Naruto Strait, Circle and others.
In 2023, Our Patio, commissioned by RESONANCES XXI, resulted in an audiovisual creation by Celia Swart and Guillaume Ruscon. More recently, the ensemble has performed several works by Jean-Mathias Pétri, Didier Schein, Agnès Vrânceanu, Jelle Hogenhuis, Victor Somma and others, and has focused particularly on developing projects featuring bass flutes.
RESONANCES XXI is currently in residence at the CAEL in Bourg-la-Reine.
