1:30PM - Michael Schack (B)
With his higher degree in economics and marketing in hand, it was never Michael Schack’s initial intention to become one of Belgium’s most renowned drummers on the international stage.
The breakthrough of the renowned Antwerp-based band Blue Blot propelled him onto the tour bus in early 1991. He then co-founded Groovemania and became the live drummer for Clouseau (1995-1997), Camden, Kate Ryan (2006-2012), Milk Inc/Regi Live (since 2006 to the present), Ozark Henry (2006-2011), and Soulsister (2008-2011). In addition, he recorded numerous singles and albums for well-known Benelux artists and contributed to TV series soundtracks such as Flikken, Windkracht 10, and Matroesjka’s.
In 2001, his international solo drumming breakthrough came thanks to Roland Corporation Japan, which entrusted him as a V-Drums product artist. Today, as a Master Creator, he travels worldwide, performing at major drum festivals and international music events.
His global reputation soared further in 2011 when Belgian producer Netsky invited him to help shape Netsky Live based on his Sportpaleis experiences with Milk Inc. With headline slots across Europe, the UK, the US, Canada, Australia/New Zealand, and Asia, his role as a pioneer in merging technology with live drumming virtuosity was solidified.
Between performances, he toured Flemish cultural centers with his successful educational “Rechtop!” school show. Since 2017, he has expanded his solo career with his #DJDrummer shows, reaching audiences from the Benelux to Mexico, Colombia, Turkey, Asia, and South Africa.
Since July 2013, he has also been affiliated with the world-renowned Drumeo.com, releasing two educational packs: Electrify Your Drumming & Master Your Timing. Even after the COVID pandemic, he continued to build his solo reputation in the international drum festival circuit as a one-man band drummer/producer, delivering interactive and multi-genre performances that connect diverse drumming audiences.
In the spring of 2024, he launched #GenerationRemix, becoming a sought-after keynote speaker/performer, and embarked on his first full-length theater tour (#DrummerExMachina) across Flemish cultural centers. Additionally, he played a crucial role in developing the new V-Drums V-71 module and 716 drum series, which he will premiere worldwide at the UK Drum Show in late September 2024. In October-November 2024, he will also get over 135,000 Milk Inc fans dancing across seven sold-out Sportpaleis shows.
