Creativity and Communication in Performance. The workshop is made possible by Howarth.
In this workshop we will explore the art of communicating with an audience during a performance. We will look at specific works and figure out how to identify pivotal moments within them, and then explore how we can best “perform” those moments to convey to an audience what we desire. This will involve a little bit of music analysis as well! We will look at what it means to be a performer, not just a musician, and how what we do beyond the music can elevate the experience for the audience.
Feel free to bring any significant piece of music from the oboe repertoire for us to look through. I will also come with works that I find particularly interesting to share how I have approached them.
