Trombone Day - New Trombone Collective
After previous successful editions, New Trombone Collective once again organizes a trombone day in Ittervoort together with trombone factory Adams. Work will be done in groups on sound, technique, interpretation and ensemble playing. So come by to give your own playing and playing enjoyment a boost.
Are you interested in jazz and improvisation? May Peters will give a jazz workshop focusing on Salsa and Latin. Dive into the rhythmic patterns from the Caribbean.
Do you already play in a trombone trio, trombone quartet or ensemble and would you like to learn how to rehearse more efficiently or perform better at a concert, then come together and learn the tricks of the trade about the power of the collective!
Or come with your entire section, from your big band, wind band or symphony orchestra. A fun but above all educational day.
Are you 12-17 years old and would you like to rehearse once with the Young Trombone Collective? This is your chance. Show what you can do at home!

New Trombone Collective
Trombonists are not soloists but true team players. Their instrument requires cooperation, openness and collective thinking. From this mentality, a unique group of trombonists emerged in Rotterdam in the late "80s that renewed the instrument and stimulated talent. In 2001 this developed into the New Trombone Collective: a close-knit group of top musicians who develop projects together, win prizes and put the trombone on the map with festivals, education, collaborations and innovative initiatives. Despite busy careers, they come together several times a year for surprising, creative and inspiring projects.
On June 27, 3 members will be present at Adams: Remko de Jager, Pierre Volders and Mark Boonstra. They play the Adams trombone and have earned their reputation in further developing musical talent and coaching small to large ensembles.
May Peters
May Peters is a versatile and passionate musician, arranger and entertainer who has performed in no fewer than twenty-nine countries. Originally from the Netherlands, the trombonist has been living in Puerto Rico since 1994, her second home country, where she fully immersed herself in the rich Caribbean music culture.
In addition to being a trombonist, May is active as an organist, musical director, teacher, writer and journalist. Her love for Puerto Rico and its culture resonates in her performances, media appearances, books and musical projects. She published the books ¡Música, maestra! and Poco a poco, and released the album Tributo de Tambor y Trombón en Clave de Mujer Boricua, a musical tribute to influential female artists from Puerto Rico.
Over the years, May has collaborated with various renowned artists and ensembles, including The Cubop City Big Band, Ronald Snijders Extended Band, Plena Libre and Eddie Santiago. She has also performed at international jazz and music festivals in Puerto Rico, Curaçao, France, Germany, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
With her own band, May has appeared on prominent stages and festivals such as the Teatro Francisco Arriví, Ventana al Jazz Fest and the Long Weekend Jazz Fest. Her energetic style, broad musical background and love for Latin American music make her an inspiring personality within the international music scene.
Young Trombone Collective
The JTC consists of trombonists aged 12 to 18 who, under the guidance of NTC members, grow into passionate musicians and strong ensemble players, many of whom continue their studies at the conservatory.
Since their debut at Slide Factory in 2009, they have performed at, among others, the Gergiev Festival and the final of the Prinses Christina Competition, and in 2022 the JTC won first prize at the Gelre Chamber Music Competition. Audiences are often surprised by the high level of this young Dutch trombone talent.
