Fanfare ‘Bereden Wapens’

The Fanfare ‘Bereden Wapens’ (FBW), based at the Brederode Barracks in Vught, provides musical support for ceremonial and protocol events within and outside the Dutch Army. These include performances for the Royal Family, Prinsjesdag (Opening of Parliament), swearing-in ceremonies, change-of-command events and commemorations.

The band also performs goodwill or relationship concerts. In recent years, these concerts have focused on honoring veterans. FBW completed three successful theatre tours: ‘Saluut!’ with Renée van Bavel, ‘Tour of Duty in Concert’ with Ingrid van den Nieuwenhuizen and veteran Dennis Kroon, and ‘Tour of Freedom’ with Les Chouettes.

The orchestra has also performed with renowned soloists including guitarist Erik Vaarzon Morel, flutist Ronald Snijders, saxophonist Efraim Trujillo, and trumpeter Eric Vloeimans. FBW also regularly participates in military tattoos both nationally and internationally.

To preserve the traditions of the historic Bicycle Regiment, the FBW occasionally gives performances—on bicycles.

Johnny Rosenberg

Johnny Rosenberg was born on 11 September 1977 in Eindhoven and belongs to the renowned musical gypsy family Rosenberg, famous for The Rosenberg Trio. He began playing guitar at an early age and gained recognition alongside his cousin Jimmy Rosenberg with the group Gipsy Kids, later renamed Sinti. In the early 1990s, they toured across Europe and the United States, opening for artists such as James Brown and Mariah Carey.

Later, he performed with his other cousin Mozes Rosenberg in the jazz trio Rosenberg Van Mullem. Together they recorded the album Obsession and toured in 2009 with pianist Rob van Bavel. In 2010, they launched a theatre tour with Dutch diva Joke Bruijs and vibraphonist Frits Landesbergen, which led to the studio album On the Road. In the 2013 theatre season, Johnny stood out as lead singer with The Rosenberg Trio.

Nowadays, Johnny Rosenberg is best known for his singing career. He began developing his vocal skills in the late 1990s, winning multiple talent competitions. In 2005, he finished third in the finals of the National Song Festival with his self-written Latin-pop song “When Forever Ends”. His big breakthrough came in 2010 with his participation in the TV show The Voice of Holland, where his first audition wowed both audience and coaches.

Through The Voice, Johnny had the opportunity to perform a live duet with James Blunt and met his musical idol Michael Bublé backstage. They not only spoke but also sang together — a dream come true for Johnny Rosenberg.
