Roel Verheggen

Roel Verheggen studied at the conservatories of Rotterdam and Tilburg. He graduated cum laude in flute (with Raymond Delnoye) and orchestral conducting (with Jan Cober). He played flute and piccolo in the National Youth Harmony Orchestra and the Brabant Orchestra.

In addition to playing the flute, Roel also trained as a singer and was taught by Jos van Eijck and Simone Kleinsma. In addition to orchestras, he also conducted various choirs with which he performed in Germany, Spain, the Czech Republic and Austria. In 2017 he was awarded the honorary pin of the municipality of Land van Cuijk for his contribution to local culture. In 2022 he also won the Doctor Peelen Culture Prize there.

As a conductor, Roel led major projects including Passion, Cinemagic, Carmina Burana and performances of Karl Jenkins' Stabat Mater and Gabriel Fauré's Requiem.

Since 2023, Roel has also been working as a flute specialist at the Adams European Flute Centre.
