Olga Ivusheikova

Olga Ivusheikova is one of the leading flute teachers in Russia, and we are delighted that she is part of the 19th Flute Festival.

Olga Ivusheikova is a renowned flutist and professor at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, internationally acclaimed for her brilliant interpretations of both the classical flute and traverso repertoire, as well as for her work as a soloist in live performances and recordings. Her teaching methods in masterclasses are highly respected in Russia and abroad, and her students achieve remarkable success.

She began her musical education at the age of seven at the prestigious Gnessin Music College in Moscow with Professors Korneev and Mironovich, before continuing her studies at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory with Professor Yury Dolzhikov.

Olga’s extensive teaching career began at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, where she was appointed Associate Professor in 2006. Since 2002 she has also taught at the Gnessin Music College, and in 2011–2012 she served as Professor at Kurashiki Sakuyo University in Japan. She has considerable experience as a jury member at flute competitions, and her masterclasses are in great demand worldwide, including at the Adams Flute Festival (Netherlands), Forum Flute Piano Diekirch (Luxembourg), Royal Conservatoire The Hague (Netherlands), St. Petersburg Conservatory (Russia), Nicolet International Flute Competition (Guangzhou, China), Novosibirsk Conservatory (Russia), and the Yamaha Music Center in Osaka (Japan).

From 2003 to 2005, Olga studied baroque flute and early music at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University of Music and Theatre in Leipzig with Professor B. Csalog, supported by a DAAD scholarship. She also attended masterclasses with Felix Renggli, András Adorján, Michael Kofler, Barthold Kuijken, and Wilbert Hazelzet.

At the age of sixteen, she won the Russian National Flute Competition, later receiving a special prize at the International Flute Competition in Scheveningen and 2nd prize at the “Van Wassenaer” Early Music Ensemble Competition in The Hague.

Since 2004, Olga has performed as a soloist with Pratum Integrum, the only Russian orchestra playing on historical instruments. From 1993 to 1999, she was principal flutist of the Moscow Radio and Television Orchestra.

As a soloist, she has collaborated with ensembles and artists such as the Moscow Soloists Chamber Orchestra (Yuri Bashmet), Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra (Vladimir Spivakov), Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra (Valery Gergiev), the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia (Vladimir Jurowski), Musica Viva Chamber Orchestra (Alexander Rudin), the Perm Opera Theatre Orchestra (Teodor Currentzis), and the Academy of Early Music (Tatiana Grindenko). Her recordings include works by Bach, Telemann, Tcherepnin, and others.

She has performed in prestigious venues such as the Great Hall of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, the Bolshoi Theatre, and the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Hall, and appeared at festivals including Regensburg Tage Alter Musik, Beethoven Festival Vienna, Tage Alter Musik Herne (WDR 3), Utrecht Early Music Festival, Baroque Evenings Festival in Croatia, and the Flanders Festival Bruges.
