Natalia Gerakis
Natalia Gerakis is considered one of the most accomplished flutists in Greece today. Both Stuttgart- and Athens-based, she has performed as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestra player at major halls and festivals throughout Germany and Greece. Besides, concerts and tours have brought her to numerous countries all over the world.
Natalia Gerakis was born in Athens, Greece. She is considered one of the leading young flutists of her country. She lives and works in both Stuttgart and Athens, performing as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral member in prestigious concert halls and festivals in Germany and Greece. Her concert career has also taken her to numerous European and Mediterranean countries.
She was principal flutist of the Orchestre des Jeunes de la Méditerranée and participated in the scholarship program of Ensemble Modern Frankfurt. Later collaborations included performances with the Athens State Orchestra, the Mikis Theodorakis Popular Orchestra, the Chamber Theater of the Stuttgart State Opera, and the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn. She also served as principal flutist of the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra.
Natalia Gerakis studied under Geneviève Amar and Vicens Prats at the Nadia & Lili Boulanger Conservatory in Paris, graduating with the distinction “1er Prix de la Ville de Paris.” She completed her postgraduate studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Stuttgart in the class of Prof. Jean-Claude Gérard, supported by the Greek State and the Onassis Foundation.
Her work in contemporary chamber music has been broadcast by Bayerischer Rundfunk, and she has recorded for Greek radio. A CD featuring music for flute and harp was released by Spektral Records (Germany).
Natalia is passionate about teaching. She regularly offers flute lessons in both Greece and Germany, and enjoys working intensively with young flutists in short-term programs to help them achieve their artistic goals.
