Dr. Chris Potter

Dr. Chris Potter is President of the International Low Flutes Society and was the first chair of the National Flute Association’s (NFA) Low Flutes Committee. She has commissioned, performed and conducted many new works for low flutes by composers such as Mike Mower (Obstinato and Scareso), Katherine Hoover (Two for Two), Matthias Ziegler (Low Flutes at High Tides) and Ali Ryerson (Silver Linings). Her NFA award-winning Alto Flute Method and Vibrato Workbook, along with her Advanced Alto Method and Bass Flute Method are sold world-wide.

2026 is the 22nd year Chris has organized Low Flutes Retreats which bring people together for four days focused on low flutes as soloists, chamber musicians and large ensemble members. For five summers, she conducted a low flutes choir at the Galway Festival and she recently took part in concert tours of Germany, Austria, Hungary and France with the International Flute Orchestra.
