Audun Halvorsen

Audun Halvorsen, born 1979, studied with Robert Rønnes, Eirik Birkeland and Knut Sønstevold, and Ole Kristian Dahl has been Audun’s coach and mentor since 2001.

Since 2006 he has been Principal Bassoon in the Danish National Symphony Orchestra in Copenhagen, a position he also held in the NDR Sinfonieorchester, Hamburg (2010–2011), Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra (2005–2006) and the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra (2001–2007). As a guest principal, Audun has played with orchestras such as the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and others.

Audun won 1st prize in the Crussell Bassoon Competition in Finland in 2003, and has appeared at many chamber music festivals. Audun currently teaches bassoon at The Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen, and has given masterclasses in many places throughout Europe and China.

Audun plays a Heckel #15…-series.
