Anne-Marie van Mierlo

Anne-Marie van Mierlo has been the principal oboist of the Zeeuws Orkest since 2015.

Since 2015, I have been the principal oboist of the Zeeuws Orkest. I absolutely love being able to play all those wonderful orchestral works, surrounded and inspired by people – musicians and audience alike – who share the same passion: music!

Working with a great diversity of soloists is also incredibly inspiring and a joy to experience.

In addition to performing with the Zeeuws Orkest, I am regularly invited to perform with various ensembles and orchestras, and I have substituted with the Brabants Orkest and the Residentie Orkest.

One of the annual highlights is the series of concerts where the Matthäus Passion and the Christmas Oratorio are performed. It’s beautiful music where the oboe, English horn, and oboe d’amore play a key role.

I studied oboe with Anne de Vries and Hans Roerade and earned degrees as a Teaching Musician and Performing Musician (Master of Music), along with specializations in English horn, oboe d’amore, orchestral performance, chamber music, and ensemble direction. I still enjoy taking further training and courses to stay fresh and up to date.

In 2017, I founded the chamber music ensemble VIJF!, which consists of harp, violin, flute, oboe, and bassoon. It’s a particularly colorful ensemble for which I also make arrangements. With VIJF!, I released the album “Saffier” in March 2020. By now, VIJF! is a welcome guest at various national stages and radio stations.
