Herveille, Raymond (NL)

Follow

Raymond comes from a highly musical family where nearly everyone plays an instrument. His father Wiel had taken many stages as a drummer and even showcased his yodeling and singing. It’s safe to say that Raymond inherited his passion for drumming at a very early age. As a child he began exploring the sounds of the drum set, played along with his favorite pop groups and developed an exceptionally good ear and technical sense.

Initially he played entirely by ear and, as a result, developed a strong technique and orchestration sense. Later in life he expanded his musical knowledge, studied solfège intensively, and took lessons from teachers including Fred van Vloten, René Cremers, and especially Joe Porcaro, the world renowned jazz drummer. These influences helped shape his musical growth.

At 18, Raymond was already active in the Top,40 circuit with the band Con Amor from Belgium. There he learned all about harmony and singing from seasoned musicians. This experience laid the foundation for his love of harmony and choir work, which many bands and productions now benefit from. In his own studio, he coaches bands in areas where they lack knowledge or direction.

After Con Amor, he worked with the likes of The Game, Mannheim, Zinatra, René Shuman, Manilla, Anderkovver, Extrema, and more. He also contributed to vocal and CD work for artists such as Zinatra, René Shuman, Long Tall Ernie & the Shakers, Helmuth Lotti, and Lisa Del Bo (B). A truly extensive CV.

For insiders, the relationship between Raymond, his wife, and the Porcaro family (TOTO) is no secret. Through years of friendship and contact, Raymond has been able to “soak up” training at the Musicians Institute (MI) in Hollywood, and the Los Angeles Music Academy (LAMA) in Pasadena, two world, renowned, internationally focused schools. Joe Porcaro, in particular, is a developer of drummer techniques and equipment like the famous “Powertips”, and his connection to Adams Music Centre in Thorn. Raymond enjoys a sponsorship deal and drums almost annually at the Drummers Meeting in Diest, Belgium. He has benefited from private lessons and classes at two of the world’s most famous music institutes with Joe Porcaro, a true master of jazz.

Raymond has rightly earned his stripes through his distinctive style, mastery, and expertise in drums and vocals. A true musician in every aspect of the craft, he continues to work hard, especially in his own studio, where as a producer he mixes many productions to their climax. He also continues to perform with Anderkovver, a band with undeniable POWER and a shared vision of music and performance, a flame no storm can extinguish.
