Different Types of Lyres

Choosing the right lyre depends on your instrument and personal preference. Below, we explain a few of the most common types:

Lyres with Bell Clamp. These lyres are attached to the bell of your instrument using a clamp. This type is commonly used on trumpets, cornets, flugelhorns, and trombones.

Lyres for Lyre Holders. Many instruments already come with a built-in lyre holder, usually soldered onto the instrument by the manufacturer. These lyres often have a rod-shaped end that fits into the holder. There are also separate lyre holders available that can be clamped onto the instrument.

Lyres with One- or Two-Part Clamp. Depending on the weight and size of your sheet music, you can choose a lyre with a one-part or two-part clamp.

Smartphone Holders. In addition to lyres for traditional sheet music, there are also lyres designed for your smartphone. Using a magnetic sticker that fits on your phone case, you can easily attach your phone to the lyre holder.
