Trombonedag 23 november

Voorlopig programma van deze dag is als volgt:

10.30 ontvangst deelnemers en docenten ( Brandt Attema , Chris Houlding en Sandor Hendriks )
11.00 - 12.30 , clinic 1e deel ( warm-up , ademhaling , buzzen , basistechnieken , etc. )
12.30 - gezamenlijke lunch
12.45 concert door het trombone kwartet : Quatuor Anemos
13.30 - 15.00 , clinic 2e deel ( ensemble spel )
15.30 mini concert m.m.v. alle deelnemers 
16.30 Edwards Demo en recital door Chris Houlding ( speelt werken van zijn nieuwe CD )
17.00 gezamenlijk diner

 's Avonds is er om 19.30 een slotconcert door Het Limburgs Trombone Ensemble m.m.v. Brandt Attema en Chris Houlding i.s.m. de Koninklijk Erkende Harmonie St. Cecilia Maasbracht. Entree voor het concert kost € 5,-  Op voorhand reserveren van kaarten is niet mogelijk, er is plaats genoeg. Toegang toe dit concert is voor iedereen mogelijk , dus niet alleen voor de deelnemers !!

Brandt Attema

Bastrombonist Brandt Attema maakt onderdeel uit van het Radio Filharmonisch Orkest sinds 1999. Hij is ook lid van het Nederlands Blazers Ensemble en het Nieuw Trombone Collectief. Als Freelancer speelt hij bij onder andere het Schoenberg- en Asko ensemble.

In September 1999 won Brandt Attema het internationaal concours voor bastrombone in Guebwiller – Frankrijk. Sindsdien treedt hij regelmatig op als solist. Zo was hij te gast op het International Trombone Festival van 2000, 2003, 2004 en 2005 en bij de Eastern Trombone Workshop 2006.

Sinds 2007 is Brandt Attema docent aan het Koninklijk conservatorium van Den Haag.

Brandt Attema studeerde bij Ben van Dijk aan het conservatorium van Rotterdam waar hij in 2003 Cum Laude afstudeerde. Hij volgde ook lessen bij onder andere Joe Alessi, Michel Becquet, Blaire Bollinger, Christian Lindberg en Charley Vernon.

Chris Houlding

Chris was appointed Principal Trombone of the Orchestra of Opera North, Britain’s newest and most innovative opera company, when he was 21. Since then he has appeared as Guest Principal with most major UK ensembles including the London Symphony, London Philharmonic, Philharmonia, Royal Philharmonic, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, London Brass, London Symphony Brass and the Symphonic Brass of London.
A graduate of London’s Guildhall School of Music, Chris studied with Denis Wick, Eric Crees and Peter Gane, and was awarded the Principal’s Prize. Prior to this he was a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra and Great Britain’s National Youth Jazz Orchestra and National Youth Brass Band, gaining the LRAM Diploma while still at school.

Recently appointed Professor of Trombone and Brass Ensemble at the Folkwang Hochschule, Essen, he is also Senior Tutor in Brass at Manchester’s Royal Northern College of Music and regular Trombone Professor with the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. He has coached the European Union Youth Orchestra and Gustav Mahler Jungend Orchester and gives recitals and masterclasses throughout the world, including the Joseph Alessi Summer Seminar, Juilliard, Eastman and conservatoires in Boston, Texas, St Petersburg, Porto, Oslo and Arhus. In the UK, Chris has given recitals, classes and has served as outside assessor at London’s Guildhall School of Music, Royal College of Music, Trinity College of Music and conservatoires and universities in Glasgow, Birmingham, Huddersfield and Salford.

In 2003 Chris represented the UK in the World Orchestra for Peace under Valery Gergiev and has made concerto appearances with the Orchestra of Opera North (Elgar Howarth Concerto under the composer, Grondahl Concerto under Martyn Brabbins), Durham Sinfonia (Bourgeois Concerto) and Slaithwaite Philharmonic Orchestra (Albrechtsberger Concerto as soloist/director). A former President of the British Trombone Society and clinician for the Edwards Instrument Company, he has appeared as guest artist at International Festivals in Washington DC (ETW 2008), Las Vegas (ITF 2007), Sweden (2007) and Birmingham (ITF 2006) and currently serves on International Trombone Association Executive Board. His debut solo CD entitled Houlding his own was issued in February 2008 on the SRC label.

Chris was awarded an MMus in Conducting by the Royal Northern College of Music in 2005 and held the position of Music Director with the Slaithwaite Philharmonic Orchestra for six years. He has also conducted the Orchestra of Opera North, RNCM Symphony Orchestra, Wind Orchestra and Brass Band (2007/8 Festival of Brass), NYO Open Day Orchestra, Lancashire Youth Symphony, Oslo Music Academy Brass Ensemble, Prinsen Musikkorps Brass Band, Denmark and Grimethorpe Colliery Band. As an adjudicator, he has served on international juries including the Turkish Young Musician of the Year, Norwegian Brass Band Championships, Feis Ceoil Dublin and the Royal Overseas League Music Competition.

Sandor Hendriks

Sandor Hendriks werd geboren op 21 maart 1974 in het limburgse Sint Odilienberg. Hij begon op 7-jarige leeftijd als bugelist bij de fanfare St.Wiro in het Reutje. Later verruilde Sandor dit instrument op 13-jarige leeftijd voor de trombone, alwaar hij aan het instituut KREATO diverse diploma’s behaalde. Na het afsluiten van de VOCO - opleiding aan het J’eanne d’Arc College te Maastricht in 1992 vervolgde Sandor zijn studie aan het Maastrichts Conservatorium. Hier studeerde hij hoofdvak Trombone bij Dhr.J.Banens ( voormalig solo - trombonist van Koninklijk Concertgebouw Orkest ). In juni 1997 behaalde  Sandor het diploma DM en vervolgde zijn studie aan de Musikhochschule Aachen bij Dhr.H.Ries ( solo-trombonist van de WDR te Keulen ). Tijdens deze studie was Sandor in het seizoen 1998 – 1999 werkzaam bij de Duisburger Sinfonikern – Deutsche Oper am Rhein. Hij remplaceerde tijdens zijn studie in diverse beroepsorkesten en werd in 1997 uitgenodigd voor het Schleswig-Holstein Musikfestival Orchester. In juni 2000 studeerde hij in Aken aan de Musikhochschule cum laude af voor zijn UM diploma en is sinds september 1999 verbonden als 1e trombonist aan het Limburgs Sinfonie Orkest te Maastricht.

Naast deze vaste dienstbetrekking is Sandor ook aktief met kamermuziek. Zo is hij sinds 2000 dirigent en oprichter van het “ Limburgs Trombone Ensemble “ en speelt hij met zijn studiegenoten in het limburgse koperkwintet “Southern Brass “ en in het groot koperensemble “ Flexible Brass “.
